Determining your skin type can be very confusing! Like the rest of our body our skin is forever changing. Before you can develop the habit of taking care of your skin, you need to know what kind of skin type you have.
There are (5) General Skin Types:
- Normal Skin is firm, soft, and supple, with a healthy glowing appearance. Normal skin is the healthy skin type that we all strive for! Unfortunately fewer than 20% of women have normal skin. Normal skin has good circulation and generally doesn't look or feel dry or oily and has small(er) unclogged pores. Blemishes are uncommon.
- Dry Skin may be due to excessive sun exposure and/or aging. As dry skin ages it's more prone to premature wrinkling. Dry skin tends to be tight especially after cleansing and is generally flaky and may appear ashen or dull because of the buildup of dead skin cells.
- Oily Skin tends to look shiny, has larger pores, is generally coarse and thick in texture and is prone to blackheads and breakouts. Often people with oily skin have a tendancy to develop acne as teens and later in their middle years.
- Combination Skin tends to be oily in the T-Zone area (forehead, nose, around the mouth, and chin) and dry or normal on the cheek area.
- Sensitive Skin is also included as a skin type, however people who fall into the above 4 skin types categories can also have sensitive skin. Sensitive skin is easily irritated and tends to look red or flushed, and blotchy, and may be sensitive to environmental factors, certain skin care products, and cosmetics. Because sensitve skin is so easily irritated it should not be over stimulated.
Many Factors Can Influence Your Skin Type:

- Environmental Factors such as sun exposure and weather
