Dysport vs. BotoxAttention Baby Boomers!!!  There's a NEW anti aging, anti-wrinkle Botox Alternative on the market!  Dysport (pronounced DISS-port and formerly known as Reloxin) originally developed in the United Kingdom in the early '90's for the treatment of muscular disorders, was recently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Dysport and Botox are made by different companies, but contain the same basic ingredient, Botulinum Toxin Type-A and work in the same way by temporarily immobilizing muscles with the use of injections to smooth and reduce deep furrows, crow's feet, and fine lines and wrinkles.

There are however, some slight differences in the two anti aging treatments - Dysport's effects kick in a little more quickly than Botox.  Botox usually take 5-7 days to take effect, where as Dysport's effects are noticeable within just 1-3 days after treatment.  Also, Dysport's effects last longer, generally from 4-6 months or more, where as Botox usually lasts only 3-4 months.  Another perk in Dysports favor is the cost!  Depending on your location... Dysport treatments run from $300-$400.  Botox treatments are typically in the price range of $300-$500.

With over 3 million Botox procedures performed in the U.S. alone last year, Dysport is expected to give Botox a run for it's money.  However, competition is said to drive the price of Botox down, as yet another NEW anti-wrinkle filler named Purtox is said to hit the market sometime next year.
